De-puff Your Eyes after the Christmas Party with these Simple Tricks

If you’re starting to celebrate the most festive month of the year at the moment, then we’ve got some top tips for you. After a night of partying and getting into the Christmas spirit, you may find yourself with puffy eyes in the morning. Of course, we all want to avoid this and learn how to de-puff our eyes the next day.

In this article, we will be looking at how you can alleviate the appearance of redness under the eyes, using a selection of cooling face creams and face massages as well as how staying hydrated after a night out could be the answer to that after party puffiness.

Use a Cooling Face Cream

Using a cooling face cream on your under eye could be the key to avoiding puffy eyes after the Christmas party. If you stick to light creams, or with either gel or water-based formulations for this very sensitive area, then it will help alleviate some of the swelling that may appear. If you have a thicker, more rich textured cream, we suggest leaving that for the rest of the body area. Thick creams can actually exacerbate the puffiness further, as the weight of the product could pull down on this delicate part of your face.

A cream we highly recommend using after a night out is the Eye Cream from Dr Barbara Sturm, which has been developed to specifically treat this delicate and puffiness-prone area. This cream was made to target the treatment of tired looking eyes, as well as having anti-inflammatory and antioxidant ingredients which aim to protect and repair this part of our face. This cream tackles everything from dark circles to puffiness and is perfect for after-party recovery.

After selecting your product, simply warm it up in your hands by pushing it around in your palms before applying to your face with a gentle, yet firm amount of pressure. We recommend starting with the lymph area, which sits in front of your ears. This is because this area contains a lot of fluid, which arrives from your scalp, neck and other parts of your face. The build up of this fluid in certain areas can be the reason your eyes or face appear puffy. After massaging the lymph area, move onto the sides of your face. Knead your cheek bones, cheeks and chin. Then, comes the forehead, focusing on the pressure points there, rub this part of your face in a circular motion. Finally, the under eyes, remember to take extra care around this sensitive area. Simply rub the product you are using under the eyes with a gentle motion.

Or, if you’re looking for a set which can help you alleviate the appearance of redness, our 111SKIN’s Cryo De-Puffing Edit is the perfect solution. This collection of 111SKIN’s Regenerative eye and face favourites comes with a pair of complementary Cryo Sculpting Tools. When combined with the three face masks offered, these cooling metal definers, made from surgical stainless steel, work to encourage circulation, reduce puffiness and temporarily tighten the skin. This also makes for the ideal gift for Christmas, if you know someone who suffers from having puffy under eyes on a regular basis.

Facial Massager the Morning After

Everyone loves a good massage, but have you thought about giving your face one the morning after? When it comes to the next morning, after sleeping through the night, you may find that it’s not just your eyes that are puffy. Your entire face sometimes swells, especially if you’ve consumed alcohol the night before.

In the morning, spend five minutes massaging your face. This can help your skin appear more plump, radiant and glowing. It can also relieve any tension you may be harboring in this region. In your face, you can hold a lot of stress simply from daily expressions such as frowning or pouting. It’s important to alleviate these pressures every so often. Tense facial muscles can put an immense amount of strain on the skin, which can eventually lead to fine lines and wrinkles.

The morning after your Christmas party, simply cleanse both your hands and face and warm the product you are using in your hands. We suggest the Dr. Dennis Gross’ B3 Adaptive SuperFoods™ Stress SOS Eye Cream, which was specifically designed to target the appearance of puffiness in the under eye region. This formula strengthens the skin barrier while smoothing away fine lines and crepiness around the eye for a renewed, firmed, and youthful appearance.

Drink Lots of Water Before Bed

Finally, remember to drink lots of water before bed. Whilst it may seem a little counterproductive to fight fluid with fluid, having a few glasses of water before going to sleep can actually help reduce any signs of puffiness that may occur. When your body doesn’t have enough liquid and isn’t hydrated enough, it can hold onto the fluid it does have, which can contribute to you feeling puffy, bloated and lead to swelling of the face or body.

Do yourself a favour and drink a few glasses of water before bed and even leave one the side, the morning version of you will thank you later!
