How Often Should You Use Skinceuticals Silymarin Serum?

Serums are a must have in your 2021 summer skincare routine as they can help to improve your skin madly. Regardless of your skin type and skin concerns, serums are a great product to add to your daily routine. SkinCeuticals Silymarin is an ideal serum if you’re interested in brightening your skin and fighting the signs of skin-ageing. With each serum comes its own manual as its working is unique. In this blog, we will enlighten you about everything there is to know about the SkinCeuticals Silymarin serum.

What Is Skinceuticals Silymarin Serum?

If you’ve never heard of the SkinCeuticals Silymarin serum, you’re clearly missing out. SkinCeuticals Silymarin CF is an antioxidant Vitamin C serum that has been specifically formulated for oily skin and helps to protect it against the signs of ageing. If your skin becomes oily quickly or is prone to acne, this serum will be your knight in shining armour. The serum effectively attacks the appearance of skin-ageing such as fine lines and wrinkles and also helps to protect against environmental aggressors such as sunlight, air pollution and temperature changes.

SkinCeuticals Silymarin serum contains 15% L-ascorbic acid (Vitamin C) which helps to neutralise free radical damage and minimises fine lines and wrinkles. Besides that, the serum contains 0.5% Silymarin which prevents lipid peroxidation, 0.5% Ferulic Acid which protects against oxidative stress and finally 0.5% Salicylic Acid which reduces acne and refines pores.

How Often Should You Use Serums?

Depending on the strength and ingredients of the serum you’re using, most serums can be used twice daily. If your skin is sensitive, we recommend limiting the usage of serums to once a day. For the SkinCeuticals Silymarin serum, the recommended use is once every day in the morning. Use four drops of the facial serum and distribute the serum evenly over your face. As the serum contains 15% L-ascorbic acid, using it only once a day will be effective enough for your skin to improve. Vitamin C is a powerful antioxidant that shows quick results and therefore, using it in your morning skincare routine will be sufficient.

As with all skincare products, consistency is key. Using a serum only once will not help your skin, but using a serum every day for a couple of weeks or months will. So once your skin has improved, can you ditch the serum and continue without it? No, we recommend continuing using the serum as the results might reduce or disappear when you stop using the serum. That’s not desirable after all the progress you have booked!

At What Stage In Your Skincare Routine Do You Apply Serums?

With a skincare routine consisting of seven different products, it can be difficult to remember in what order you should apply these. Luckily for you, we have created an easy overview of the right sequence you should follow.

As you can see in the overview, serums always come after your cleanser and toner, but before any cream or moisturiser. You should always start your skincare routine off by cleansing your skin, as it’s important to remove any accumulated makeup, dirt and oil before continuing to apply other products. Serums should always be applied before moisturiser or eye creams to maintain its effectiveness. When serums are applied on top of moisturisers, the effects will be reduced as it’s not as close to the skin.
